PORI is a Dhaka-born, Toronto-based DJ working in house and techno to blend the energy of two worlds into one sound. Over thirteen years she performed across nine countries, including a headline set at Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 Passport to the World festival in Jeddah, and built an audience of more than 1.4 million across the South Asian diaspora. She relocated to Toronto in 2026. Her current work is House of PORI, an ongoing DJ set series working through house and techno.
PORI is Nayma Hossain, a DJ working in house music and melodic techno, based in Toronto.
She arrived at the booth with more stage time behind her than most people starting out ever accumulate. Before the decks, she was already a known figure in Bangladesh, originating the iconic television character Pinky Parul for Robi Axiata and Charger Chameli for Bangladesh Television, appearing in campaigns for ARTISTI and PRAN-RFL, and hosting programmes across national broadcast. She learned to hold a large crowd's attention before she ever touched a mixer. That foundation shapes how she plays now. She reads rooms the way someone learns to read rooms when the crowd isn't there for the DJ.
From her first sets in Dhaka in 2012, she became one of the few women fronting South Asia's electronic scene. Over the following decade she held the official DJ slot for the Bangladesh Premier League, broadcast nationally to stadium crowds, headlined events for Banglalink, British American Tobacco, and Suzuki, and toured across India, Malaysia, Thailand, Nepal, Bhutan, the UAE, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Canada.
In May 2025 she delivered the headline set for the Bangladesh Showcase night at Passport to the World in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, a multi-city cultural festival organised under Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 programme, drawing thousands of diaspora attendees. She shared the bill with rock icon Nagar Baul James and singer Porshi, anchoring the late-night electronic segment with a set that fused contemporary house and EDM with traditional Bangladeshi rhythms.
Her following has built steadily through all of it, more than 1.4 million people across the South Asian world, from Dhaka to the Gulf to North America, an audience that has followed her from television to the dancefloor and across borders.
She relocated to Toronto in 2026. Her current work is House of PORI, a DJ set series that maps different territories of her sound, house music, melodic techno, South Asian texture, with new episodes ongoing.
A melodic journey built for the dancefloor. Her mixes move through tension and release without announcing their destination. South Asian texture runs through the music; the floor doesn't need to know where it comes from to feel it.
